It also meant that tutors maintained control of their own teaching practices.
As the project progressed, case studies were updated progressively, focusing on deepening understanding, mapping change, and examining in depth the impact of various interventions into site culture – either initiated by the participating tutors or externally imposed. As a first step in moving beyond individual case studies, the research teams responsible for each site produced short summaries of each case study to enable the whole team to share an understanding of all the sites without being swamped by detail.
Artefacts and institutions not only are expressions of cultural practices, but also embody such practices and thus play an important role in the continuation of cultures.
